Climate-Smart Agriculture Program
Supporting Burundian smallholders with climate-smart crop production, agroecology, and biochar-based soil amendments to restore soil health, increase yields, and grow incomes.

Rabbit and pig production systems adapted to smallholder and peri-urban contexts that generate income, improve household nutrition, and supply manure and urine for organic fertilisers.

Developing eco-friendly biomass fuels and promoting improved cookstoves that reduce deforestation, lower energy costs, and improve indoor air quality for rural families.

Soil Restoration & Land Management
Applying biochar and organic inputs on degraded farmland, combined with sustainable land management and erosion control, to improve soil structure, fertility, and resilience. In Burundi, biochar is made from palm kernels, coffee and rice husks, and maize cobs, and we also mix in rabbit manure and urine with the biochar.

Circular Biomass & Waste Valorization
Transforming agricultural and organic residues into biochar and biomass energy products, reducing waste, sequestering carbon, and creating climate-smart local value chains.
